Up close and personal with Design OutdoorDesign Outdoor started for one simple reason and one simple opportunity: No one cared. Business was out of control in 2004, and 2005. There was so much demand; you could do anything you wanted. The prevailing sentiment in Hardscape material supply was "If you don't have large, repeatable volume, you don't matter."
"So we decided to do something about it, we wanted to do something better" says Dmitri Pruyn, co-owner with Harold Hilderbran. "Our job is, and has always been to educate and help people make good choices." From decisions on materials and design to installation questions or finding qualified, professional contractors, Design Outdoor has the answers. Simply put, they care about every customer, no matter the size of the project, even if they just need advice.
Design Outdoor continues this philosophy today, expanding from pavers and walls to natural stone, water feature rocks, BBQs and finishing items. Design Outdoor is surrounded by lush displays, water features, sunken patios and walls. They pride themselves on having the most extensive paver displays and paver options in the area. They have over 30 running water features. There are unique stepping stones and natural stone, rain chains and LED paver lights. "We have invested heavily in our displays because we believe they help to stoke the imagination," says Harold Hilderbran. "The possibilities are endless; we are here to help you make your dreams of outdoor living a reality."
While Design Outdoor has more creative and varied product lines, what really makes them special is their knowledge and ability to help customers chose the correct products for their project. We believe in education for homeowners and have classes every weekend during the spring, summer and fall to educate people in the correct way to use the products we sell," says Dmitri.
They can also help homeowners pick the correct contractor if they need one. Design Outdoor works with contractors, large and small for every style job. "We are very involved in our industry. If a homeowner is in need of a qualified contractor, Design Outdoor can recommend one that has the necessary skills and licenses to do the work. Dmitri is also involved with the ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Paver Institute) with a board position on the Northern California/Northern NV chapter. ICPI is the organization that helps to set construction standards and promote the paver industry. Heavy involvement with this organization keeps the Design Outdoor staff educated on the latest improvements and best practices in the industry. This translates to better advice and better outcomes on your project.
Design Outdoor is a breath of fresh air in a world of big box, low service, material yards. From bare dirt to sipping a glass of wine in your new sanctuary, they can help you complete the project.
